The Gran Fondo, translated to mean “big rides,” offers cyclists of all levels a challenging, world-class event. BikeSource is proud to support The Ohio Gran Fondo in its central Ohio debut on September 2, 2012. All riders will experience a mass start, official timing/scoring, limited road closures, on-road support, medals at the finish line, and more.
There are two distances. The Fondo is 100k (about 62 miles) and the Gran Fondo is 200k ( about 124 miles).
Registration is now available online for the following rates:
- Now – April 1, 2012: $70 (Fondo) and $80 (Gran Fondo)
- April 2, 2012 – June 1, 2012: $80 (Fondo) and $90 (Gran Fondo)
- June 2, 2012 – July 1, 2012: $90 (Fondo) and $100 (Gran Fondo)
- July 2, 2012 – August 1, 2012: $100 (Fondo) and $110 (Gran Fondo)
- August 2, 2012 – September 1, 2012: $110 (Fondo) and $120 (Gran Fondo)

Today (February 2) the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee is voting on the House transportation bill, which would eliminate crucial funds for bicycling and walking.
You are able to influence this vote and to save dedicated funding for bicycling and walking by contacting your Representative in the U.S. House of Representatives to ask them to vote for the Petri amendment which preserves bicycling and walking funding!
Calling all runners, cyclists, swimmers, and triathletes – The 3rd Annual Endurance Sports Expo is coming up on February 16th! The event will take place from 6p.m. to 8p.m. at The Athletic Club of Columbus.
The event will bring sports enthusiasts together to pick up race schedules, speak to experts, tour the Athletic Club, check out the latest gear , and receive special deals and discounts available only at the expo. More than 30 vendors are scheduled to attend and you can bet you’ll see us there!

All BikeSource Columbus locations are offering weekly trainer rides through the end of February. All rides are BYOT (Bring Your Own Trainer); but each store has a few to reserve, just call ahead and let us know you will be needing one! Rides start at 7pm. We will ride at the Sawmill location on Tuesdays, Westerville shop on Wednesdays, and Clintonville store on Thursdays.

More and more supercross riders are turning to cycling for intensive cross-training to improve and maintain their fitness. That includes Ryan Villopoto, the sport’s number one rider. And what does Villopoto train on? Specialized road and mountain bikes of course.
Villopoto won supercross’ biggest prize in 2011, the Supercross class championship, and started 2012 with the coveted No. 1 plate on his Kawasaki and Specialized bikes.
“Racing motorcycles requires a lot of fitness, and riding bicycles is for sure the best way of cardio training for us; it’s low impact and still ties me in on the two wheels and provides the necessary training to carry over to the motorcycle,” Villopoto said.

Regular store hours will resume at the Clintonville, Westerville, and Sawmill locations on March 1, 2012.
